How to Purge Cache for the PeopleSoft Application

Below are the different components that store cache files for the PeopleSoft product. Follow the instructions for each tier and PeopleTools release to purge cache.

Application Servers
Pre-PeopleTools 8.48
1. Shutdown the domain for which you want to purge cache.
2. Delete all files and folders under /appserv//CACHE.
3. Start your application server domain.

PeopleTools 8.48 and above.
1. Navigate to /appserv and run the psadmin utility.
2. Choose to Administer a domain, choose your domain.
3. Choose the Purge Cache option, make sure to choose 'y' to Continue.
Your application server domain does not need to be shutdown when purging cache this way.
Process Schedulers

Pre-PeopleTools 8.50
1. Shutdown the Process Scheduler for which you want to purge cache.
2. Delete all files and folders under /appserv/prcs//CACHE.
3. Start the Process Scheduler.
PeopleTools 8.50.
In PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.50, the configuration and log files for Process Scheduler server domains reside in PS_CFG_HOME. If you do not set a PS_CFG_HOME environment variable before beginning the application server configuration, the system installs it in a default location based on the current users settings, as follows:

Windows - %USERPROFILE%\psft\pt\
Unix - $HOME/psft/pt/

1. Shutdown the Process Scheduler for which you want to purge cache.
2. Delete all files and folders under /appserv/prcs//CACHE.
3. Start the Process Scheduler.
Web Servers
Oracle WebLogic
1. Stop your WebLogic instance.
2. Delete all files and folders under the following directory
Version 5.1 --> /myserver/public_html/PIA_Site/cache
Version 6.1 --> /config//applications/PORTAL//cache Version 8.1 --> /webserv//applications/peoplesoft/PORTAL//cache
Version 9.2 --> /webserv//applications/peoplesoft/PORTAL//cache
Version 10.3.1 --> /webserv//applications/peoplesoft/PORTAL.war//cache
3. Start your WebLogic instance 

IBM WebSphere
1. Stop WebSphere
2. Delete all files and folders under cache directory
Version 4.x --> /AppServer/installedApps/peoplesoft/PORTAL//cache
Version 5.x --> /AppServer/installedApps/peoplesoft/PORTAL//cache
Version 6.x --> /AppServer/installedApps/peoplesoft/PORTAL//cache
3. Start WebSphere 

Oracle Application Server
1. Stop all OAS processes
2. Delete all files under cache directory
/j2ee//applications//PORTAL//cache
3. Start OAS

Browsers
Internet Explorer 8
1. From the Safety menu in the upper right, click Delete Browsing History... .
2. Check Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History, and then click Delete.
3. Close all browsers and restart.

Internet Explorer 7
1. From the Tools menu in the upper right, select Delete Browsing History.
2. Next to "Temporary Internet Files", click Delete files... .
To delete your cookies, click Delete Cookies.
3. Click Close, and then click OK to exit.
4. Close all browsers and restart.

Internet Explorer 5.x/6.x
1) Navigate to Tools > Internet Options > General Tab
2) Click on Delete Files button
3) Close all open instances of the browser as this will clear in-memory cookies
note: 6.x offers a delete Cookies Button on the same General Tab page

Firefox 3.5 for Windows
1. From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History... .
2. From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
3. Click the down arrow next to "Details" to choose what history elements to clear (e.g., check Cookies to clear cookies). Click Clear Now.
4. Close all browsers and restart.

Firefox 3 for Windows
1. From the Tools menu, select Clear Private Data, and then check Cache and Cookies. Click Clear Private Data Now.
2. Close all browsers and restart.

Firefox 1.x for Windows
1. Navigate to Tools and select Options
2. Select the Privacy section
3. Select the Cache tab
4. Click the "Clear Cache Now" button
5. Click OK
6. Close all browsers and restart. 

Firefox 3.5 for Mac OS X
1. From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History... .
2. From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.

4. Close all browsers and restart.

Firefox 3 for Mac OS X
1. In Firefox, from the Tools menu, select Clear Private Data.
2. Make sure Cache and Cookies are checked, and then click Clear Private Data Now.
3. Close all browsers and restart.

Safari
1. From the Safari menu, select Empty Cache... and Cookies... .
2. When prompted, click Empty to confirm that you want to empty the cache.
3. Close all browsers and restart.

Netscape 4.x/6.x 
1. Navigate to Edit, and select Preferences on the Netscape menu bar
2. Click Advanced
3. Click Cache
4. Click the Clear Memory Cache button
5. Click the Clear Disk Cache button
6. Click OK
7. Close all browsers and restart.
